How do you weatherproof bags, drums and block pallets for outdoor storage?

In short

Sides are not enough — rain and dust arrive from above. The SW-1000D adds a top-sheet module to a 2 000 kg turntable wrapper: a PE cover sheet is laid over the load and the stretch film is wrapped over its edge, sealing the two into one skin. Five-side protection, one pass, remote-controlled.

Bagged chemicals, cement, fertiliser and block pallets are frequently stored outside or under open canopy. Wrapping the sides leaves the top of the load — the surface that collects water — completely exposed.

Many of these loads are also dusty, unstable or hygroscopic, which means they cannot be spun on a turntable without shedding material or collapsing.

Multi-directional trucks travel sideways down the aisle, so the main aisle only has to be as wide as the load — not as wide as the truck plus its turning circle.

How iPack solves it

Wrap and cover sheet in one cycle

A pneumatic head pulls the PE cover across the load, a hot-wire cutter releases it, and the stretch film is wrapped over the sheet edge so the two are sealed into a single skin.

Hold unstable loads square

A pneumatic top press holds light, tall or unstable stacks stable during rotation — available on every turntable model.

Explosion-proof execution where required

Ex-proof motors, junction boxes and controls for solvent, coating and chemical plants handling flammable product or operating in a classified zone.

Strap and wrap at one station

The SW-4000D straps with PET band at 20–250 kg tension and wraps in four selectable sequences, so a pallet leaves fully secured after one handling instead of two.

Chemical & building — common questions

What top film does the SW-1000D use?

+

A 1 800 mm wide PE cover film, 60–80 μm. It is a plain cover film rather than stretch film, so the cost per pallet is low. The stretch film is wrapped over the sheet edge to seal it.

Can it wrap without applying the cover sheet?

+

Yes. The HMI allows wrap-only cycles, so the cover sheet is used only for loads that actually need weather protection.

How do we wrap a load that is too big for a turntable?

+

The SW-8000D drives itself around the pallet instead. There is no turntable and no fixed installation, so pallet size and weight are effectively unlimited; a 2 × 120 Ah pack covers 200–300 pallets per charge.

Do you supply explosion-proof machines?

+

Yes — ex-proof motors, junction boxes and controls are built to order for solvent, coating and chemical plants. Tell us the zone classification and gas group at enquiry stage.
