How do you wrap and store long profiles without wasting half the floor?
In short
Long loads dictate the whole layout: a conventional truck needs room to swing a six-metre bundle, and a turntable cannot hold it. iPack solves this with the SW-3000D horizontal ring wrapper, which spirals film as the profile passes through, and multi-directional forklifts that travel sideways so the aisle is only as wide as the load.
A six-metre extrusion or a steel bundle cannot go on a turntable, and hand-wrapping it is slow and inconsistent — every length gets a different amount of film.
Storage is the bigger cost. A counterbalance truck swinging a long load needs a main aisle of 5–6 m, which on a typical steel service centre is a third of the usable building.

Dense high-bay storage from a 1.9 m aisle
Multi-directional trucks travel sideways down the aisle, so the main aisle only has to be as wide as the load — not as wide as the truck plus its turning circle.

How iPack solves it
Pass the product through the ring
The SW-3000D wraps by passing product through a rotating aluminium ring at 20–80 rpm, so length is limited by your handling equipment, not by the machine.
Travel sideways, not around
Omnidirectional trucks run straight, crab, laterally and rotate in place. A six-metre bundle travels down an aisle only slightly wider than the load.
Scale to the product weight
Multi-directional trucks cover 1.5 t to 8 t, with the SF-8000M reaching 1 300 mm of fork extension for deep-positioned heavy loads.
Counterbalance where pallets mix in
The MQK has no outrigger legs, so it picks standard pallets straight off the floor as well as handling long stock — one truck for both jobs.

From installations in this application

1.5 m guided aisle, both rack faces
A three-way stacker rotates its forks 180° instead of the truck, so a single 1.5 m guided aisle serves two rows of racking. Customers typically recover 30–40 % more pallet positions from the same building.

Roll wrapping cell commissioned on site
Control cabinet, HMI and powered rollers installed and levelled in the customer's plant, with the operator trained on the actual production recipe.
Long product — common questions
What is the largest profile the SW-3000D can wrap?
+
The standard ring bore is φ600 mm with a maximum product cross-section of 300 × 250 mm, and any length above 1 000 mm. Larger sections are quoted with a bigger ring.
Can long product be stored without a wide main aisle?
+
Yes — that is the point of lateral travel. The main aisle in a multi-directional layout is set by the load length rather than by the truck's turning circle, which is where the floor-area saving comes from.
Will the wrapper protect anodised or painted surfaces?
+
Horizontal ring wrapping applies film without the product being turned or dragged, and film tension is VFD-adjustable. That is the normal way to protect anodised, painted and coated extrusion in transit.
